Nature Calendar 2024

Waterways are made up of chains of rivers and lakes, typical for Finland. They do not occur in the mountains or the tropics. For them to be created, quite an even and compact bottom, like the ground in Finland, are needed, as well as plenty of water.

The 2024 Nature Calendar is about flowing waters and waterways: rivers, lakes, streams and ponds, and the species that live in them. The beautiful photos and short texts on the topic lead us to waterway landscapes and the species that live along the waters. What could be more Finnish than the nature alongside waterways?

The black-throated loon thrives in clear-water lakes, and is also well-liked by those using the waters recreationally. Human impact on the sensitive aquatic nature has been strong, and the waters in many areas are in crisis. When action is taken, we see results. Luckily, it is possible to improve the condition of waters.
