Hortus novus

This collection of articles present the work of young Finnish medieval archaeologists especially for an international audience. The compilation reflects the special characteristics and current disciplinary developments of medieval archaeology in Finland. The collection comprises fourteen articles on various subjects covering all aspects of medieval archaeology: rural and urban archaeology, medieval material culture, maritime archaeology, lines of communication, and the archaeology of religious beliefs. Also such issues as the archaeology of castles and experimental archaeology are covered.
