Customer Register for the Tiedekirja Webstore
4. Purpose for Handling Personal Data
Personal data is collected and handled for managing customer relations. An individual can, as desired, register as a Tiedekirja webstore customer. The e-mail address provided by the customer serves as the username, and the customer creates the password and, as necessary, may change it.
The register handles personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR of European Union.
5. Register Content
The register includes the following information: the customer’s name, street address, postal code, city, telephone number, e-mail, password, items ordered by the customer, payment and shipping methods. The register controller shall remove information from the register, at the customer’s request, insofar as it is possible, taking legislation and regulations into account.
6. Standard Sources of Data
The registered customers themselves shall provide their information upon registering as Tiedekirja customers and placing orders.
7. Standard Data Disclosures and the Transfer of Data outside the EU or EEA
No personal data shall be disclosed to a third party nor will it be transferred outside the EU or EEA.
8. Retention time of Personal Data
Personal information is stored as long as the customer relationship exists. Personal data, however, will be anonymized if the user’s account has been inactive for over 12 months.
9. Principles of Security for the Register
The register databases are protected by firewalls, passwords and other technical means. Customers are recognised in the register through their e-mail addresses, and their passwords are not stored in a comprehensible format. The only persons who have access to the register, and have personally been granted passwords, are designated employees of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. These persons are bound by professional secrecy.
10. Right of Access, Right to Rectification and Right to Prohibit Processing
Customers have the right to review the information that has been entered on them in the register. To review this information, customers must submit a signed written request to the person managing the register matters of the controller.
A request to review the information can also be submitted in person at the address noted above. The customer must show identification upon submitting a request to review the information.
Cookies and browser local storage
The online store uses cookies and the browser’s local storage to ensure the technical operation of the service, information security and the functions requested by the user. These data are needed, for example, for the shopping cart, checkout functions, session management, login, technical security protection, language and store view selections, messages and the proper functioning of the online store’s cache.
The Magento online store may store technical data in the browser’s local storage relating, for example, to the shopping cart, checkout functions, display of customer-specific content, messages, language and view settings, recently viewed products and management of the online store’s cache. Data stored in local storage are used so that the online store can display the correct shopping cart, checkout and customer-specific information to the user and update parts of the page without reloading the entire page.
The online store also uses the `techaro.lol-anubis-auth` cookie, which is related to the technical protection of the website and the prevention of automated or harmful traffic. The purpose of the cookie is to ensure that the browser using the online store has passed the security check.
In addition, an extension related to the selection of delivery methods may store information in the browser concerning pickup point or postcode searches, such as the `pickupSearchPostcode` data. These data are used to implement the delivery service functionality, for example to remember the pickup point area selected or searched by the user during checkout.
The above-mentioned cookies and data stored in the browser are necessary for the technical operation of the online store, information security or the provision of the service requested by the user. They are not used for marketing or for tracking users outside the online store.
