Forssa 2024,
lnsects are everywhere. Pollinators and other insects are more important to us humans than we might think. ln addition, many insects are beautiful and extremely interesting to observe.

Key habitats for pollinators include sunny meadows, roadside verges and other relatively open environments. ln the 2025 Nature Calendar, we delve into the world of insects and other animals and plants in open habitats.

As agriculture becomes increasingly technical, the number of meadows and other diverse open environments is in decline. At the same time, many of the species of the former mammoth steppe are in trouble. Open environments often require maintenance: grazing, mowing or other activities to maintain openness. Yet, overcare is detrimental for these environments and their species. Striking the right balance requires knowledge and sometimes also a change of mindset.

Size 34cm x 24,5cm. The size of an open calendar 34cm x 49cm.
