This book presents a multifaceted panorama of art and science in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It also provides an introduction to the Finnish art world from 19th-century Romanticism to renowned women artists such as Helene Schjerfbeck. In addition to Tikkanen, the work of Nordic scholars such as Lorentz Dietrichson, Julius Lange and Osvald Sirén is examined.
