Residential Environment, Physical Activity and Depressive Symptoms in Adults

Marjo Seppänen is a health geographer who completed her PhD at the Geography Research Unit and at the Research Unit of Population Health at the University of Oulu and at the Department of Sports and Exercise Medicine at the Oulu Deaconess Institute Foundation.

Her dissertation focuses on the associations between residential environment, physical activity behaviour and depressive symptoms. She investigates these associations at three geographical levels: global, regional and local. Her work provides a multidisciplinary understanding of the environmental and behavioural factors associated with depressive symptoms at the population level.
