Peter Kalm's North American Journey

In the early chapters of this study is dealed with the question of how the idea of this journey first arose and what the plan gradually came to mean in the minds of its formulators and of Kalm himself. An attempt is also made to give an overall picture of the course and results of journey, at the same time enliving it with details culled from the manuscript of Kalm's diary. Certain chapters, such as that on the American Indians, contain a considerable amount of new material.
