This is a collection of essays from the annual colloquium of the Philosophical Society of Finland, organized in June of 2022, which marked the first time that the Philosophical Sociefy held its annual colloquium at the University of Oulu. The overarching theme of the title Past. Future. Philosophy. highlights the strengths and focus areas of the host university, mainly that of the philosophy of history. However, the discipline of presentations was not restricted, but instead a wide range of philosophical topics and approaches are collected in this volume.

Eero Kaila is an adviser at the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity TENK. He holds a doctorate of social sciences from the University of Helsinki, and has worked as a post doc at the University of Jyväskylä. Kaila has served as the secretary of the Philosophical Society of Finland for the term 2017-2024.

Henri Pettersson works as a university lecturer in The Faculty of Education and Psychology at the University of Oulu. He holds doctorates in philosophy from the University of Turku (2019) and in education from the University of Oulu (2023).

Jani Sinokki is an academic philosopher working currently at the Universify of Oulu. Sinokki's research interests range over variety of topics, from history of philosophy and Cartesian metaphysics of mind to philosophy of language and philosophical theories about racism and hatred.
