From 1980 onwards the Basque Country of Spain had far-reaching autonomy and the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV) as a regional hegemonic party used its considerable politico-economic power uninterruptedly. This book offers valuable information on the PNV's exercise of power, the main factors in economic policy being regionalism, capitalism and populism. The findings of this book enhance our view of the recent history of the PNV and the Basque Country in a new and fundamental way.
