Rebirth and Personal Identity

This original study concentrates on the conceptual problems associated with various views of rebirth found in the Indian philosophical tradition. The author approaches the problems as a philosopher of religion. The main problem concerns the different ways of understanding the relationship between a presently living person and his or her alleged incarnation(s) in former/future life. He analyses the references to the rebirth relationships that can be implicitly or explicitly found in classical Indian schools of thought.
