This research, based on extensive archival material from three continents, examines the commencement of the Finnish Missionary Society´s (FMS) work in Pakistan and studies the difficult church-mission relations in the Pakistani Lutheran Church from the Society's perspective. Besides the FMS, three other Lutheran societies were active in the northwestern part of Pakistan: the Danish Pathan Mission, The World Mission Prayer League (WMPL) from the U.S.A. and the Norwegian Mission among Moslems (NMM).
