Helsinki 2001, 202 pp.
This book is a result of a three-year (1998–2000) project Welfare Differences – Arguments For and Against. The project was financed by the Academy of Finland, and was part of the Academy's larger reseacrh programme Health and Other Welfare Differences between Population Groups. Mainly with the argumentative methods of moral and social philosophy, sociology, and economics, the project set out to study how the identified ideological mechanisms transformed into welfare differences, both in theory and in practice, as well as their role in maintaining those differences.
