Jokainen nuotti pitää elää – Man måste leva varje not - One must live every note

"Älkää koskaan kirjoittako mitään tarpeetonta nuottia, sillä jokainen pitää elää", ohjeisti Sibelius nuoria säveltäjiä radiohaastattelussa 6.12.1948. Jokainen nuotti pitää elää tarkastelee Sibeliuksen luovaa työtä uusimpaan tutkimustietoon nojautuen. Teos taustoittaa niitä olosuhteita, joiden vaikutuksesta ja vallitessa Sibelius loi niin merkkiteoksiaan kuin jokapäiväisen elannon turvanneita "voileipäkappaleitaankin".
"Skriv aldrig någon onödig not, eftersom man måste leva varje not", sade Sibelius till unga tonsättare i radiointervju, 6 december 1948. Sibelius skapande verk granskas på basis av de nyaste forskningsrönen. Boken beskriver bakgrunden till de förhållanden under vilka Sibelius skapade såväl betydande mästerverk som "smörgåsstycken" för att trygga sitt dagliga bröd.

One must live every note is a biographical look at Sibelius´s long life and decades-long career as a composer. The book explains the circumstances tha influenced and guided Sibelius in the creation both of masterpieces and of the ´bread and butter pieces´ that were necessary for everyday life. Sibelius´s creative work is examited on the basis of the latest research. The book is produced in conjunction with the Sibelius jubilee year exhibiton of items from the collections of Ainola, the Natinal Library of Finland, the National Archives of Finland and the National Museum of Finland.
