Daghestan and the World of Islam

Western scholarly interest in Daghestan and the Caucasus concentrates on the 19th and 20th centuries and on the Russian impact on the area. This volume, of revised versions of papers presented at a meeting in Tel Aviv University, aims to draw the attention of Western scholars and the public to the medieval and early modern past of Daghestan, when that region was not only Muslim but fully intergrated into the cultural world of Islam.
