Clay varve chronology and deglaciation in SW Finland

Clay varve measurements at 53 sites in SW Finland have resulted in a varve chronology for the Late Weichselian deglaciation between Salpausselkä II and Kustavi. The new varve chronology is connected to the revised 'Swedish time scale'. As about 800 varve years seem to be missing in the younger c. 11 000 year-part of the Swedish time scale, all dating is expressed in 'De Geer years' (±0 = 7288 varve years BC in the uncorrected time scale). According to the present view, ±0 on the Swedish time scale should correspond to approximately 10 000 calendar years BP; -1500 to approximately 11 500 calendar years BP.
